Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays
Merry Christmas, my dirty darlings! And for all of you that may not celebrate the 25th, happy holidays and many happy returns!
It's been quite a year for me, both professionally and personally. A lot of ups and downs, outstanding highs and depressing lows. Getting married was obviously the highlight. Barnes & Noble's pornocalypse was definitely the lowest (as far as revenue goes). There were more weddings than funerals, thank God, but there were more of the latter than I would have expected.
I know that this time of year can be tough. Sometimes it can creep up on you, sometimes you know it's going to suck for months ahead of time. You don't even have to be alone for depression to hit you. You can be surrounded by family and friends and still feel alone. If this is the case, don't hesitate to ask for help. The popular thing to do at this time of year is just offer season's greetings and thank the fans. I do thank you all, for without you I couldn't keep writing what I love to write, but it's more important to me that you stay healthy this year and for many years to come. Never be afraid to reach out, if you're hurting. And don't hesitate to reach out if you know someone else is having a rough time.
All my love, yuletide fun, and merry Christmas. My husband, whose love for Bill & Ted is unending, likes to drink eggnog and go around the party telling everyone to "Be excellent to each other." That is my wish, too.
Be well and stay safe. I may have one more book out before the end of the year. We'll see if I can climb out from under the piles of figgy pudding and Christmas ham to finish the edit on time.
Love,
V.
